Music, reimagined for your home.
Part of the Rock & Roller Collection of fabrics. ‘Ziggy Stardust was Bowie’s most complete concept. The look, the music, the story – everything worked together brilliantly to create one of the most striking and iconoclastic characters in rock and roll.’ Danny Lewis, author David Bowie Style The Ziggy design is inspired by David Bowie’s iconic “Rites of Spring” costume designed in 1973 by Kansai Yamamoto for the Ziggy Stardust UK tour. In 1970, Kansai Yamamoto was the first Japanese designer to have fashion show in London. It was on the Kings Road and David Bowie was there, 24 years old and not yet a major star. Yamamoto’s fashion show was extraordinary, and Bowie was captivated as Japanese Kabuki theatre models showcased incredible, androgynous designs, wearing striking wigs of red hair. Kabuki is a form of traditional Japanese musical theatre, recognised by its elaborate costumes, make-up and unique musical quality. The Japanese word “kabuki-mono” means; ‘a person who attracts attention due to their strange clothes/hairstyle and overall odd behaviour’.
