It was twenty years ago today…well, maybe not twenty years, but who even knows what time is anymore?!* This was the very first design concept I dreamt up when Isaac’s Bazaar was just a sparkle in my eye and I first had this idea of using interiors and upholstery to pay tribute to the music that weaves through the fabric of our lives.
Being from Liverpool, with the influence of my parents who grew up in the sixties, it was inevitable that I would become a huge Beatles fan. The Beatles had their fair share of iconic looks, from the collarless suits and haircuts of early Beatlemania, to the individual looks of the Abbey Road “funeral procession”, but for the instant recognition, pop of colour and design challenge, I chose to immortalise the iconic Sgt Peppers suits.
My chosen “fab four” was a row of four vintage cinema seats. This piece was actually my final project before graduating from the Ministry of Upholstery. The fabric, a high-quality matte velvet paying homage to the traditional cinema seat covering, was printed there too.
And here they are, in all their glory:
The designs are also available as sumptuous duchess satin scatter cushions. Grab the whole band or pick your favourite Beatle, or…you know…whichever one matches your couch.
Fancy some cinema seats of your own?
We have a limited stock of beautiful vintage cinema seats just waiting to be reupholstered in your dream design.
Cinema seats are the perfect addition to your home, not just for those lucky enough to have a home cinema. They look great in-home bars, she-sheds and man caves (because staying in is the new going out), hallways, alternative bench seating for your dining table or even as feature seating in your lounge. These don’t come up all the time, so get in touch if you have a project in mind.
